About Us

The Young Earth Creation Organization has several purposes, and it is sometimes unclear which of its many purposes was decided first. It is sometimes difficult to distinguish for people new to the site what is intended to be a purpose and what is intended to be a means.

Main Purpose

YECO is meant to create a single front in the creation/evolution battle. Some creation ministries have tried or are currently trying to do this. The method that others have taken usually meant becoming so large that every other creation ministry is eclipsed by this one great, shining ministry. This has never worked, and it is not Christian, either. Instead, YECO intends to do this by rallying all of the existing creation ministries together. We don’t say, “give us your ministry”, but instead we say, “come and share with us”. Let creation ministries join together and share information, video, pictures, and when need be, people. Friends, we should not be in competition with each other, but we should be one army together fighting the Lyellian and Darwinian heresies (Lyellian heresy = deep time; Darwinian heresy = evolution by natural selection). I mean, every other time a clergy member has come up with a belief that is against the Bible, it’s called heresy. Darwin had a degree in theology, not science, so Natural Selection should be called a heresy, not a theory.

Let me give you an example: Phillip O’Donnell wrote a book and produced a video based on it. Both were called, “Dinosaurs: Dead or Alive”. If I create a video or book about dinosaurs, I should not think of my product in opposition to his (because his would probably be better) but instead understand that he will present information in one way, and I will present it in another way, and people need to decide for themselves how they prefer it. I find my approach to be a bit more systematic than Phillip’s, less visual than Ian Juby’s, and less technical than Russ Miller’s. But some people will prefer my style over theirs, others will prefer Phillip’s, Ian’s, or Russ’s over mine. And some will like both, or all, of the materials. But we are absolutely NOT in competition with each other. Our differing views and styles will dictate how the final product is, and if we are all Biblical Christians, our materials will not be competitive with, but complementary to, each other.

Means (ways to accomplish the purpose)

Some of the ways that have been proposed for accomplishing this goal are as follows:

- Connect creationists from various creation ministries so that information can be shared.

- Connect creation ministries and their staff members with non-creation ministry people to share information.

- Collect writings, audio, video, and pictures so that information can be shared.

- Display products of a creationist nature so that people can see the variety of materials available (nothing can actually be bought through YECO unless expressly stated, and all products are displayed only to direct you to the location where those materials may be bought.

Ditches with each proposed mean

These are things to be weary of for each of the proposed means above:

- Connecting people – Focusing too much on this will turn YECO into nothing more than a creation-centered social networking site, and that is definitely not wanted

- Collecting writings – Focusing too much on this will turn YECO into little more than a resource ministry such as Creationwiki or Godtube. Don’t misunderstand. Ministries like that are good, but that is not what YECO is supposed to be.

- Display products – Focusing too much on this will turn YECO into a retailer and not a ministry. Plus there are the problems that would cause with the IRS and taxes, and that is definitely not wanted.
